[0:00:30] Geoff: Hello and welcome to another piece of regulation supplemental content. This is a draft. This is I'm excited. I was before about three minutes ago. I was excited about this one. Then we started recording. This is the bird not bird draft. Gavin joke aside. No cause. No idea. I'm sorry. No cause. Like I call like a bird. I'm saying no birds. No birds. Got it. Got it. Got it. Okay. Birds caught. There you go. Or just cause. Andrew brings up an excellent point. Birds do caw. Some cock-a-doodle-doo. Yeah. There you go. So. None of those. Today we will be drafting birds that are not birds. As I was saying earlier before I got caught. No cause. I genuinely don't know who. Gavin joke aside. I don't know who came up with this idea. So I can't credit. I mean I'm going to credit Gavin for it. But you know. I think it was you. Want to say? No. Who wants to go first?
[0:01:25] Eric: I'm sorry. Is that how this works? I'm going to figure it out. Are you? No, no. Is there really carbon monoxide in this room?
[0:01:33] Geoff: No, no, no. I know how it works. I know how it works. I'm just curious if anybody wants to go first. Does anybody like have pics that are like burning a hole in their pocket?
[0:01:41] Eric: Guys, I think what's happening is that Jeff is in a bad mood and we need to try our hardest to pull him out of his bad mood.
[0:01:47] Geoff: Dude, I was born in a good mood.
[0:01:49] Eric: Yeah, guys. I think I think Jeff's just guy. He's in this. Oh, he's like we got here and he's like, I think I've been sucking a tailpipe or smoking like carbon monoxide. And it's like, oh, poor guy. But now it's time for birds that aren't birds. And the way we do that is using Sean bears website. That's true. We always do our drafts. And nobody essentially goes first when they say, hey, I want to go first. We randomize a certain amount of time. Of course, that's how we do it.
[0:02:16] Geoff: But sometimes people want to go first or don't want to go first. Like I didn't want to go first.
[0:02:21] Eric: See, I'm sorry, Jeff. I'm sorry. I'm sorry about your mood. You got it. You got to pull it together.
[0:02:26] Geoff: This level of gaslighting going on in my office right now. Nonsense. I'm agreeing. I'm not in the office.
[0:02:32] Gavin: Is there a bird that has a number as a part of its name?
[0:02:36] Andrew: I don't know. All I know is regardless of where I draft, I'm flying high in this one. I'm sorry. I might not be a bird, but I'm going to fly. I'm going to hit some peaks in this draft. I'm ready. How many times do we want to random it?
[0:02:48] Eric: I feel like Andrew keeps stopping the conversation to be like, here's kind of a bird pun. But it's not really a pun.
[0:02:54] Andrew: No, that was just a statement. I'm ready. I'm getting in the bird zone. I don't know where you guys are, but I'm focusing on a top-down view of what these not birds are.
[0:03:03] Gavin: Oh, well, I got it toucan. So we'll do it two times.
[0:03:06] Eric: Okay. Okay. Well, we start with an egg order. We randomize one time. It's Andrew, Eric, Jeff, Nick, Gavin. So that means the second time, two for toucan. Jeff! Ah, damn it. Andrew, Nick, Eric, Gavin.
[0:03:23] Geoff: I was lost twice. Jeff, you don't want to go first? I definitely didn't want to go first. I was wondering if anybody did want to go first.
[0:03:30] Andrew: He summoned it into the universe.
[0:03:32] Eric: Yeah, you should have said something.
[0:03:33] Geoff: All right, hold on. Let me look through all of my birds. Well, they're not birds. I'm going to pick the best. They're not birds.
[0:03:38] Eric: Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. They're not birds. Yeah, they're not birds. You shouldn't be looking through your list of birds. That doesn't make any sense.
[0:03:44] Geoff: I'm going to go with, for my first pick, on the bird-not-bird draft, my number one pick, the Millennium Falcon.
[0:03:53] Unidentified: Whoa!
[0:03:56] Andrew: He's going with a spaceship from Star Wars.
[0:04:03] Eric: This is going to be a weird one.
[0:04:05] Geoff: See what I mean about Andrew this morning? No, I'm high energy. What do you mean?
[0:04:08] Andrew: Came in odd. People love the Falcon. The Millennium one. I don't know if there are other Falcons. I haven't seen it. But they like the Millennium Falcon. That's Han Solo's thing, right? But that's my pick, Andrew. It's your turn. I'm not talking about the Millennium Falcon.
[0:04:27] Geoff: That is Han Solo's thing, is it not? If you want to talk about the Millennium Falcon, next time you can draft it. I didn't have a chance. You're first.
[0:04:34] Eric: Yeah, Jeff drafted the Millennium Falcon to not talk about it. I don't want to talk about this fucking spaceship.
[0:04:41] Andrew: Yeah, it's a spaceship from Star Wars. Yeah. Okay. I hadn't seen it. I was just trying to get more info. I like the spaceship in Star Wars. It's an iconic ship. It's a, you know, it wasn't on my board. I didn't even get to see it, Jeff. I think it was a great pick. Fantastic. Fantastic. Me, now going second, because I went second on the thing. We randomized it twice, and I ended up second. What's going on? I am going, I don't understand what you mean, what's going on. I'm setting up my pick. Are you all right? Yeah, I'm great. I feel like I'm the only good one here at the moment.
[0:05:12] Gavin: Everyone else, popping that weird office gas.
[0:05:14] Andrew: I don't know what's happening over there. With the second overall pick in this draft, my bird, not bird, is none other than the one, the only, the great Spike Video Game Award winner, Tony Hawk. Tony Hawk. Oh. An outstanding bird, not bird. Nickname, The Bird Man. The Bird Man, yeah. Huge part of my childhood. Those games were iconic. It brought skate culture to a mainstream in a way that it hadn't been before, and it is just such a fun culture to experience. Everything about those games, tech deck dudes at the time, like all of it I feel like can be traced to influence by Tony Hawk. Just seems like a genuinely good dude. So my pick is Tony Hawk. How do you guys feel about Tony Hawk? I like that too because he flies, you know? He does fly.
[0:06:11] Gavin: I feel like he's been drafted multiple times across our drafts at this point.
[0:06:15] Geoff: You think he's been drafted multiple times? Yeah. I wonder what the most drafted entity across our drafts is. It might be him. That's a great, great point.
[0:06:23] Andrew: But I wanted to make this special. I realized that with Bird Not Bird, this allows a rare opportunity. And also, you know, I take these drafts seriously. I take my position in them seriously. These are things, these are important drafts that we do. It means something to be picked in one of these drafts. So, accepting as a great selection in the Bird Not Bird draft is none other than one. Tony Hawk. Allow me to share my screen. Oh, okay. He's sharing his screen now? Sharing my screen. Here we go. Okay. Okay. Media player? Will I have a full screen on this for you guys? Okay. I see it. Good to go? Yeah. Here we go. Tony Hawk making an acceptance speech of being one of the great Bird Not Birds.
[0:07:15] Unidentified: Andrew, what's up? It's Tony Hawk. Hey, I first of all, want to thank you for choosing me as your first pick in your Bird Not Bird draft. What would you have done if I picked Tony Hawk? I'm not sure I understand the entire concept of it, but I believe that I'm a bird because it's Hawk, but I'm not really a bird. Is that it? I mean, that's pretty basic, and maybe I did get it after all, but I have always strived to live up to my last name, Hawk. It didn't seem like the coolest name when I was a kid because it rhymes with something else, a certain vulgarity for a body part, male. What does that mean? And Tony rhymes with bony. You have to call him Tony Hawk in school. So you can figure that out yourself, how I got teased when I was a kid, and it was the 80s, and people were bullying, and so there you go. That's my soft story.
[0:08:09] Andrew: I never made that connection.
[0:08:10] Unidentified: I came to. You were playing Tony Hawk as a kid by calling him Tony Hawk. That sucks. It wasn't that funny.
[0:08:15] Andrew: He doesn't deserve that.
[0:08:17] Unidentified: And so I still strive to be like a hawk. We're bringing birds here. We are. Bird, not bird. Yet. Pretty soon. And if anyone is listening out there, and you have a skateboard, and you're not a bird, do a kickflip.
[0:08:32] Eric: And there we go. Oh, hell yeah. That was incredible. Jeff, what else did they call people in the 80s to make fun of them?
[0:08:39] Geoff: You know, it was so long ago. Who can remember? Who could know? Who can remember? I'm sure I wouldn't know. I feel like he picked up on the concept immediately.
[0:08:50] Andrew: Instantly. He instantly got it. He talked it out. It made sense to him. He understood. He's on top of things. He told us about how he was bullied. To answer your question, Jeff, I would have been fucked. I was very worried about that.
[0:09:05] Geoff: Because I got news for you, Andrew. It was between Millennium Falcon and Tony Hawk. I think Millennium Falcon because it was further up the list.
[0:09:15] Andrew: When you said who wants to draft first internally, I was screaming, me. Ah, see, this is why you asked the question. Yes.
[0:09:23] Nick: Is this also why we delayed recording this?
[0:09:25] Andrew: It is. Well, to be fair. That's it. Oh, that totally makes sense. So that was part of the light. But also, we were supposed to record like six things that day. So I was like, we could move this.
[0:09:37] Nick: So yes, that was why I asked to have it delayed. Coming together.
[0:09:41] Eric: Yep. Well, Tony Hawk is the second pick, but we go to Nick. Big Nick energy.
[0:09:47] Nick: In the first round of the Bird Not Bird draft. With my first pick, a much simpler pick. A much easier. Less. No, no, I'm afraid not. And no spaceship either. I'm going with duck. As in the act of ducking to get down.
[0:10:03] Unidentified: To go low. To stay out of the way. Crazy.
[0:10:09] Eric: That's a good pick. That is truly, that is truly an excellent pick, Nick. Awesome pick, Nick. I'm really, I'm really proud of you for picking that one. Thank you. That's awesome. That's, that's not even on my list. Didn't even consider it. That's incredible.
[0:10:20] Gavin: Didn't even think of these. Amazing.
[0:10:23] Eric: No.
[0:10:23] Andrew: And a fortunate last word for some. Last thing they ever heard.
[0:10:31] Eric: Wow. Duck is such a good one. Like, I didn't even think of birds as a verb. No. That's an interesting thought process. But, I will say, I thought of birds as a game. That's why I'm, I'm not even waiting. I'm drafting chicken.
[0:10:44] Unidentified: Oh. There's no way you're going to go with that.
[0:10:47] Eric: As soon as Nick said duck, I changed my whole order. Oh no. Chicken is in. Chicken's in.
[0:10:52] Andrew: You're going head to head. You're playing chicken. Duck. I thought that you were going with a different game that uses Nick's word. No, no. There's a lot of bird related games I'm learning.
[0:11:05] Eric: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, this is, this is duck and chicken. I like that if you looked at this, it looks like two guys who got what this was and two guys who didn't.
[0:11:13] Unidentified: This is a great first set of four picks.
[0:11:37] Andrew: I feel like there's a lot of pressure on Gavin going in at this one.
[0:11:40] Geoff: Gavin, did you get what this is?
[0:11:42] Eric: Yeah, Gavin, you got two picks back to back to figure it out too. How are you feeling?
[0:11:56] Unidentified: My first pick is women.
[0:12:09] Eric: This is, this is a first, this might be an old timer first round.
[0:12:13] Gavin: This might be an old timer first round. British slang sort of old fashioned, uh, slightly, well, sexist language for a woman.
[0:12:22] Andrew: I feel like drafting it as women and us bird slang is crazy.
[0:12:29] Unidentified: I'm fucking crying.
[0:12:30] Andrew: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Andrew, you think my picks should just be birds? Bird, yeah, I do. Because that's what it is. I know it means, I know what you're saying is what it means, but it just, it will, speaking of not getting it, looking at the board, it looked crazy.
[0:12:51] Gavin: Yeah, but then all of my, this, all of my picks will be bird and then in brackets, my actual pick.
[0:12:57] Andrew: They're different things. I like how Eric just had it. I think that. Yeah, I think that's fine. I want Gavin to, I want Gavin to have what Gavin wants. That's true. It should be what he wants. I just think it looks crazy.
[0:13:07] Geoff: I just assumed he said women because women can be birds or chicks or like there's multiple bird names. Oh, I see. Associated. So he was like encompassing all of them.
[0:13:15] Gavin: I would like to just change it to woman.
[0:13:18] Eric: Singular.
[0:13:19] Gavin: Yeah. It's bird, not bird, not birds, not birds. What? I think that came out actually correct, but it sounded crazy, but I think you got it
[0:13:32] Andrew: saying.
[0:13:34] Eric: That's awesome. Oh, fuck. Oh, shit, dude. This is millennial falcon, Tony Hawk, duck, chicken, woman. Sounds like a Donald Trump, like Alzheimer's test that he repeats back in public. I haste it. Millennial falcon, Tony Hawk, duck, chicken, woman. I get the highest score they've ever had. Oh, fuck. Gavin, how are you going to top that going into our next round? Well, my next pick is pink.
[0:14:04] Gavin: It's got a giant mouth blowhole for eggs. It's Birdo. It's a great it's a great one. I don't really understand Birdo. It was like a bad guy at first. And now I don't know.
[0:14:17] Eric: Yeah. And now they play tennis and golf and stuff with like Luigi and everyone. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I also don't know what Birdo is Birdo.
[0:14:26] Andrew: Yeah. It's not like a Yoshi, but it sounds like it's in the same lineage.
[0:14:31] Eric: It feels like Yoshi and Birdo are boyfriend, girlfriend, but I have nothing to back that up. It feels like that in the same way where dogs are boys and cats are girls.
[0:14:39] Nick: Oh, yeah.
[0:14:40] Eric: You know what I mean?
[0:14:41] Nick: I get it.
[0:14:41] Eric: Yeah. It's just like a gut feeling. I remember I looked into this before.
[0:14:45] Andrew: Who's Birdo dating? One second. There is. It was Yoshi. Rule 34. Who is Birdo dating? Careful. Yeah. I guess it's Yoshi. I guess the two of them. Got to say.
[0:14:56] Nick: All right.
[0:14:57] Andrew: Oh, is that right? Apparently.
[0:14:59] Eric: Oh. All right. Well, hey, congratulations on your relationship. Mm-hmm.
[0:15:03] Gavin: Well, I mean, he lays the eggs and then Birdo sucks them down. There we go.
[0:15:06] Eric: Oh, I don't.
[0:15:07] Unidentified: I just don't like that.
[0:15:08] Andrew: Oh, that's terrific. Yeah.
[0:15:09] Eric: I just don't like that.
[0:15:11] Andrew: That's why I never had an egg.
[0:15:14] Eric: Don't want to deal with that? That's why you never had an egg?
[0:15:17] Nick: You thought it might be a Yoshi?
[0:15:19] Eric: It might. Guys, guys, guys. I don't know where this came from. It might be a Yoshi. This could be a Yoshi.
[0:15:24] Unidentified: Prime presents Perfect Pairings. What pairs with Reacher on Prime? Reaching for a sparkling punch delivered with Prime. [0:16:16] Eric: Well, go to me for my next pick in the second round. I got to give a shout out to our friend Blaine for throwing a bunch of ideas around when I told him about this. He got really excited about the Bird Not Bird draft. Millennium Falcon was on his list. But this is one that was eye-opening to me, and I really liked it. It's Robin Williams. Oh! That's great! He got really excited, hit me with Robin Williams, and I went, that's going on my list. That is such a really good one. Yeah, Robin Williams is such a good pick for this. Definitely not what you think of. Until he said that, I never thought about Robin Williams' name being Robin. Sure. Like, people just call, hey, what's up, Robin? Like, that's weird. Yeah. Yeah, I don't like that. He is a full-name guy. Yeah, big time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a Matt Damon, Fred Durst kind of guy where you've got to say the whole thing. You have to. Oh, it's Matt, Fred, and Robin. Oh, God. I hate that. It's George Clooney's name is George.
[0:17:16] Andrew: Fuck. Do you have a favorite Robin Williams movie, Eric?
[0:17:21] Eric: Is anything you have to mind? No, I think the one that I think of with him is probably Good Will Hunting, but also, like, close second, is Jack, which is very weird that that's, like, the movie that I jump on him with. Interesting. I don't, yeah, very strange. Very weird premise, but good for him, I guess. Do you have a favorite, Andrew?
[0:17:41] Andrew: No, not really. Like, what immediately comes to mind is Hook for me, but I don't love that movie. That's, like, it's good, but, oh, I don't like that movie at all. Yeah. Oh, really?
[0:17:49] Geoff: Yeah, I really don't like that movie. If you've never seen The World According to Garth, I recommend it. Oh, to my list.
[0:17:56] Eric: Robin Williams on the board, but we go to Nick with his second round pick.
[0:17:59] Nick: Well, I like to be consistent. And with my second pick, I'm going with Ducking, which is in Escape, the act or means of getting or keeping away from something undesirable.
[0:18:11] Andrew: Now, you said, Eric, in the first round that it looked like half the people that got it and half that didn't. Is it safe to say that part of that half has lost the plot by the second round?
[0:18:23] Eric: I don't understand. You picked the same. Is this an espresso, espresso with tea situation?
[0:18:29] Nick: This is different. You can argue the coffee thing all you want. It's the same word, but it's also not a bird, and it's another act of something.
[0:18:39] Gavin: Ducking, ducking.
[0:18:40] Eric: Isn't this the same act? It's the same act.
[0:18:43] Gavin: It's the same verb or origin word. Sure. You ducked up there and down here you're ducking.
[0:18:50] Nick: Yeah, well, the duck get low was my first one. This is the different definition of it, which is to avoid something. Chew it in for Nick's third and fourth pick. Ducked and ducks. That's undesirable. Like the disgraceful ducking of your duties to your family. Why? To escape. But that's what duck is. All right, I'll change it.
[0:19:13] Andrew: I don't think you have to change it. And I'm not fighting against it. I just don't get it. You know what?
[0:19:18] Gavin: It's the audience you're going to have to answer to. The crow's nest. I feel like your hand was off the piece there.
[0:19:25] Nick: Well, it sounds like it was a legal move. So we'll go with the crow's nest.
[0:19:30] Andrew: We like pirates. Pirates are cool. Get in the crow's nest. Look out. Now, you know what I like to do in the crow's nest is some classic ducking.
[0:19:36] Eric: Like two different definitions. Oh, goodness. You argued for ducking so much until you just went, that's enough. Moved on. I give up. Crow's nest. Andrew, do you have another cameo for us? Oh, man.
[0:19:56] Andrew: Andrew, what's your what's your next pick? With my second pick in the bird, not bird draft, there's a lot we could pick from so many great options off the board already, like crow's nest or Birdo or Robin Williams. And those are all second round picks as well. I am going with a second round pick that I would be surprised was on anybody's draft board. But I think it is such a connection to the show developed long history. My pick in the second round is none other than the name Cheyenne, which means Falcon. That's right. It means Falcon. That is such a crazy. But isn't that a bird? No, it's a name. It's a person's name, which means you could pick the guy.
[0:20:49] Geoff: You want me to pick the guy? I mean, it makes more sense. You're just picking a different name for the name otherwise.
[0:20:54] Andrew: OK, well, then I'll pick the guy because the name, I guess, is a bird, but it's not a bird. Well, I mean, it's just the word, isn't it? I feel like you're ducking away from this.
[0:21:05] Eric: I'm not ducking at all. I'm standing tall. You can have the you can have the word Cheyenne, I guess, if that's what you want. It just it seems strange.
[0:21:12] Andrew: That's what I have on my board. But if you guys would rather it be the person, that's OK, too. I'm happy with whatever. That is my pick. And of course, as I said, these are important awards. These are important things. I'll be sharing my screen once again. The second acceptance speech by none other than the pencil judge, the man himself, Cheyenne Daivari.
[0:21:34] Eric: But he knows what this is, right? Like he kind of like understands what's happening here. Tony Hawk doesn't know the fuck it is. He's just checking a box.
[0:21:40] Andrew: I explained everything the same way to both these people. That's bad. That seems like the wrong way to do this. Here we go. I'm going live. OK. He's speech. All right. From Cheyenne.
[0:22:01] Unidentified: Thank you so much. Thank you, everybody. I set this award on behalf of all Cheyens for best bird, not bird. I want to mention our fellow nominees, Raven Simone. You could have predicted the future, but you couldn't have predicted this. Cardinal B, I love your music. You topped the charts, baby. But tonight, we topped you a little bit here, huh? Didn't we? Didn't we? Tony Hawk, you soar above us all. You're one of my own personal heroes, which makes it so much more meaningful that we clipped your wings here tonight. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Atticus Finch.
[0:22:37] Gavin: You taught us about justice. And I hope. He's doing it. He's a part of the draft. He's drafted.
[0:22:43] Unidentified: Look at him. He is. He's drafting.
[0:22:44] Nick: He just made his draft.
[0:22:45] Unidentified: No.
[0:22:46] Nick: I have to remove something from mine.
[0:22:47] Unidentified: That I am justice. And I'm going to use this moment. And I don't want to make it political, but I'm going to use this moment to plead for justice. We need Andrew Pantone to please eat the fucking pencil for no other reason than so the regulation podcast listeners will leave me alone about the pencil. Please. Thank you. Incredible. I love this guy.
[0:23:23] Eric: Wow. I'm floored. I love that guy. That was that was incredible. Fantastic. He made sure he made like a full draft. He did. He did a whole list. That's crazy.
[0:23:31] Andrew: Check out his website. Shane Daivari dot com. Where the hell is he?
[0:23:35] Eric: What the fuck was that? I don't know.
[0:23:37] Andrew: He was a ceremony. I have no clue where he was for that. But he also streams on TikTok every Monday, 530. Check it out. Incredible. Incredible. That was so good. Andrew, what a pick and what a cameo. Absolutely. For that pick. That wasn't even. That was just a favor. I just reached out and asked and he was down. Oh, that's that's awesome.
[0:23:55] Eric: Way to go. Um, well, Jeff, you have a something, a high standard to live up to here as you have two picks in a row. How do you fucking follow that up? Right.
[0:24:07] Geoff: Well, I don't have a cameo for you. I didn't call it any favors. I'm going to do a very Jeffy niche pick for this one. I want why I cast a wide net with Millennium Falcon. That was my that was my gift to the audience instead of being the way I would normally do it, uh, which is this. I'm going to pick one of the rarest vehicles on earth. I am going to pick Elvis's own Stutes Blackhawk. They only made about 250 of them. Oh, wow. He got the very first one ever made. It's an incredibly rare and expensive car. It was basically a bespoke car in the 70s. Only people like Elvis and Al Pacino had them. And, uh, it is a work of art looking at it. I've never seen one of these.
[0:24:51] Eric: Whoa, this is cool. That's a cool body on that car. I love it. That looks like such a throwback to what old cars look like, but also like what a Rolls Royce is like. Yeah. How, how strange. That's fucking cool. I've never heard of this brand.
[0:25:07] Gavin: Yeah. I've never heard of that.
[0:25:08] Andrew: Yeah. It wasn't around for very long. It's like somebody took the Monopoly car and made it cool.
[0:25:13] Eric: Yes. That's exactly. Andrew. Andrew. That's exactly what it looks like. It's exactly what it looks like. That's awesome.
[0:25:19] Geoff: Elvis was obsessed with that car.
[0:25:21] Eric: Oh, I bet. The great car. Well, Jeff, that's a great car to round out our second round, but you have the first pick in our third round of the bird, not bird draft. What do you got?
[0:25:28] Geoff: I am going to go for my third pick. I was actually going to make it my fourth pick. I'm a little scared that somebody else is going to get it. And so I want to get it off the board before, uh, before anybody else has the opportunity to, I am going to pick maybe the most important bird in the world to me. That is the protected by Falcons tier from our Patreon. Oh, you drafted our support. I, I drafted our audience, our wonderful, heartfelt, supportive audience.
[0:25:56] Eric: Wow. That is a great one. I didn't even think about that. What an incredible pick. Good pick. What an incredible, the Falcons themselves have made this list. If you are protected by Falcons on Patreon, you're on this draft.
[0:26:12] Andrew: Yeah. We do a monthly event for the Falcons and it's always so much fun doing those. Yeah. I mean, the whole community is amazing, but like the interaction with the Falcons during those events is always so much fun.
[0:26:23] Eric: Yeah. They're, uh, they're pretty great. Pretty great Falcons.
[0:26:26] Geoff: They're a great bunch of people to build a playlist with. That's for sure.
[0:26:29] Eric: Yeah. Great playlist that we tested out and it was pretty good. It was pretty good until it gets to the end and we start, it maybe gets like a little bit thin when it gets to a Tim Curry song. He's lucky on this time. Yeah. Yes, he is. Um, well, Andrew, two incredible picks so far. What's your third in the bird, not bird draft?
[0:26:47] Andrew: Third pick in the bird, not bird draft, uh, is going to kind of connect to the first pick a little bit in a way. Tony Hawk known as the bird man. I am drafting in the third round with my third pick. None other than the rapper bird man. Awesome. Everyone's great. Favorite bird adjacent rapper. Incredibly talented. Long career. Uh, and, and what I think makes this pick even greater is of course these honorable, uh, very, very prestigious awards that we're getting out as the bird, not bird, as my team filling out my team. Yeah. Have a video. Of course. Now, unfortunately, bird man, you know, he's, he's up there. He's flying around. It's hard to get a hold of the bird man. He's unavailable to make the selection, uh, acceptance on his behalf. So accepting on behalf of the bird man is none other than the incredibly talented star of
[0:27:54] Andrew: the green life himself. TPG.
[0:27:58] Eric: Okay. TPG accepting on behalf of bird man. Yeah. This, this is the only way to do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This might be the only way.
[0:28:07] Andrew: This is the only person fitting for this. Now this is as it was sent to, sent to me. This was as it was presented. I didn't, I didn't do anything. This is just the video he sent. Fantastic speech. TPG. Take it away.
[0:28:19] Unidentified: Like to congratulate you for picking bird man in the draft of bird related things. This is your boy TPG regulation fan, regulation commenter, longtime lurker, longtime commenter, always a huge fan of all the guys. I've been connected to bird man since 2013 when I did some rapid Jason projects, which I've never seen. More importantly, bird man would like to say, thank you so much for drafting him. Bird man is actually a huge birder himself. Not to be surprised. He has a life list. He spent much time in the Everglades and the surrounding area of New Orleans looking for birds of all types. You know, when he likes to go birding, he says, this is how we do it. Where I'm from, studding in the club till we see the sun. But in this case, the sun is the relentless pursuit for the pursuit of birds of all types. So bird man, incredible pick. He's honored. He's grateful. He's no way connected to TPG. I do not want to be in trouble with cash money records. But bird man, incredible choice.
[0:29:20] Unidentified: Well done. Well represented. And birds. You need him. See you out there, bro. Love to be a part of this. He's the best. Shout out, bird man. We love TPG.
[0:29:32] Andrew: Please check out the green light. He's fucked, dude. Oh my god.
[0:29:35] Gavin: I forgot what happens when people send videos to your phone.
[0:29:39] Andrew: It's the only one that came out that way. But I thought it was perfect.
[0:29:42] Eric: Oh man. Until the sun comes up, which the sun is the relentless pursuit of birds.
[0:29:53] Gavin: If this is the first piece of concept people watch. Absolutely ridiculous.
[0:30:02] Eric: Three different acceptance speeches. Man, incredible. Well, Nick, you have the next pick here. Your third in the bird not bird draft. My third pick.
[0:30:13] Nick: I think that this bird is the most important bird not bird. Or this bird not bird is the most important bird not bird. Because it is the bird. Two middle fingers straight up for flipping the bird. Great pick.
[0:30:29] Andrew: Great pick. Yep.
[0:30:30] Eric: Was that on your board, Gavin? Yep.
[0:30:32] Geoff: Middle finger.
[0:30:32] Andrew: Yeah.
[0:30:34] Eric: Should I write? Do you want me to write the bird? Do you want me to write middle finger? What do you want, Nick?
[0:30:37] Unidentified: The bird.
[0:30:38] Eric: The bird it is.
[0:30:39] Andrew: Reading some of these picks. Back to back are so funny. Bird man the bird. I like it. What's your bird not bird, Nick? It's the bird.
[0:30:48] Unidentified: The bird is the bird.
[0:30:53] Nick: What was the last time you flipped the bird, Nick? Let's see. I drove through downtown today.
[0:30:58] Eric: About 40 minutes ago. Yeah, exactly.
[0:31:03] Gavin: Nick did come in huffing and puffing, apparently.
[0:31:05] Eric: Yeah, yeah. He was so mad. Didn't even say hello. He just sat straight down. It put Jeff in a bad mood. Oh. Sorry, Jeff. Yeah. It's all right. But guys, I have the next pick. I have the third pick here. Or my third round pick. And I'm going to go with The Crow. Oh.
[0:31:23] Unidentified: 1994.
[0:31:24] Eric: Yeah. Thank God you clarified. Yeah. The Crow from 1994. An awesome movie that gave goth people something to do for 20 plus years.
[0:31:33] Unidentified: Yeah.
[0:31:33] Eric: And I think that's so kind of that movie to do. Because, you know, I said it's a great movie. It's not. It's a fun movie. It's, you know, you can watch it. You can make your whole identity it. And that's kind of, those are kind of like the two options, I think.
[0:31:49] Geoff: Brandon Lee died so their identity could soar.
[0:31:51] Eric: Yeah. Got shot with a real style gun in that Rust style in the filming of The Crow. Crazy. Parabular. Crazy, crazy.
[0:32:00] Andrew: Insane event. We recently filmed a Let's Play in Hitman revolving around Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was in it quite a bit. I'm curious if Jeff or Gavin, do you guys think about The Crow a lot during that? No, not at all. Is all I was thinking about. Not once, I didn't think. I just kept going in my head like, oh, I got to warn him about The Crow. Oh, God. I got to warn him about The Crow. Yeah, because I'm interacting with Bruce Lee in the game. When did Bruce Lee die?
[0:32:31] Eric: What? 80s?
[0:32:32] Geoff: Yeah.
[0:32:32] Eric: I will look it up. Bruce Lee died in 1973. Wow. That's so much earlier than I would have guessed. Yeah. Well, I think he had a lot of movies come out posthumously.
[0:32:41] Andrew: Ah. Interesting. Okay.
[0:32:43] Unidentified: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
[0:32:44] Andrew: Does that help your, whatever point you're making, Gavin? Oh, you're warning him about something that happens after he dies? Well, it's about his son. He doesn't die in The Crow. He's dead before then. I'm assuming his son existed at that point. Yeah. I just wanted to convey something I thought about. Grabs his one-year-old son. Don't do The Crow.
[0:33:03] Eric: It's your kids, Marty. They're assholes.
[0:33:06] Unidentified: Oh, there you have it.
[0:33:11] Eric: Um, The Crow 1994 is my pick, but we go to Gavin, who's going to round out the third round and make his final fourth round pick back-to-back in this bird-not-bird draft. Gavin, what is your third pick?
[0:33:24] Gavin: Well, this is a good draft so far. I would say it's slightly above average. Maybe like one above average. And in golf, that's a birdie.
[0:33:32] Geoff: Oh! That is great. Wasn't on my list. Good job. It was on mine.
[0:33:38] Unidentified: Good call. Prime presents Perfect Pairings. What pairs with Reacher on Prime? Reaching for a sparkling punch delivered with Prime. It's an unbelievable feeling when you're enjoying a punch. At the same time, Reacher is enjoying punching people. Wow, he's still punching people. Entertainment meets fast delivery. It's on Prime. Welcome aboard Via Rail. Please sit and enjoy. Please sit and stretch. Steep. Flip. Or that. And enjoy. Via Rail.
[0:34:23] Eric: Love the way. Could have done a whole, probably a whole draft of just golf terms. You can. Yeah, absolutely. Right? You know, there's at least one other one. Let's see if he has one more. Gavin. Golf term draft. Gavin, this is your chance to do something special or go your own way. My final pick.
[0:34:40] Geoff: With Ozempic. What? That's the song in the commercial. Oh. Ozempic.
[0:34:46] Gavin: Yeah, that's what I was referencing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was referencing the Ozempic commercial. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh-huh. My first pick is actually a man. It's Superman. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. No, it's not a bird. It's Superman.
[0:35:01] Andrew: You want to take ducking instead? Yeah. My fourth pick is ducked. It's after.
[0:35:18] Unidentified: Superman.
[0:35:19] Geoff: What about audio ducking, Gavin? Go for that. He's a. Superman because some asshole thought he was a bird. Yeah.
[0:35:27] Gavin: But it's, you know, he's famously thought to be a bird sometimes, but. Yeah. You're wrong. It's not a bird.
[0:35:32] Andrew: By idiots? Famously thought to be a bird?
[0:35:37] Geoff: Of course, I'm a stand-up comedian not too long ago who had a bit about that, who was like, yeah, you get the plane or the Superman, but who's the guy who's like, a bird? Look, guys, it's a bird.
[0:35:50] Gavin: Cool. It's a parrot. All right, Jack. Is it invalid pick, do you think? I mean. You go right ahead.
[0:35:56] Eric: Yeah, you take it. I'll give it to you. I just think the rest of your board is so strong. You can have Superman, sure. It's not a bird. Yeah. Yeah, no, yeah, no, yeah, no. We all, yeah, we're all kind of. But he can fly like a bird. But he's, that's, you're drafting a not bird, not bird.
[0:36:11] Nick: That's true. You are drafting a not bird, not bird. But why do so many people think he's a bird? But it's fine.
[0:36:14] Eric: No, no, no. Because they're stupid.
[0:36:16] Andrew: Gavin, you can have it, man. Take Superman. You're good, man. I don't think so many people think it's a bird. I think it's one person, one time. Yeah.
[0:36:23] Gavin: One person, one time? It was only ever said once?
[0:36:26] Geoff: The check and tea at home. Absolutely, dude. Yeah, you got this. It was pretty, it was a pretty iconic saying, though. I'll give it, I'll give it to you, Gav.
[0:36:32] Andrew: No, it is an iconic saying. Absolutely. But it's not even, the person isn't even declaring that it's a bird. It's a question they're asking.
[0:36:39] Eric: Hmm.
[0:36:40] Andrew: Enjoy your not bird, not bird pick. Yeah, no. Hey, Gavin, I think you got it, man.
[0:36:43] Eric: Yeah, yeah. You can have it.
[0:36:45] Nick: That's fine.
[0:36:46] Eric: Hmm.
[0:36:46] Geoff: Yeah, it's fine. Gav, don't listen to him. You're fine.
[0:36:49] Nick: Yeah, Gavin, it's fine. They'll, they'll, they'll vote for you anyway, so. They're just jealous of your pick. Okay, look, look, look.
[0:36:58] Unidentified: Ow. The first, but.
[0:37:05] Geoff: Nick bringing the Achieve Hunter energy. Love it. So good.
[0:37:14] Unidentified: Those are my picks. Oh, man. Man.
[0:37:20] Eric: Thanks for the career, Gavin. We're going to me for my final pick here. I have Chicken. I have Robin Williams. I have The Crow, 1994. And to round it out, my fourth and final pick is The Crow, 2024. That's nine. Twenty.
[0:37:34] Gavin: Twenty.
[0:37:35] Eric: Twenty four. There you go. Yeah. The Crow, just a mere year ago, they remade the movie. It's terrible, but they kept the IP. And that's what's so important in America today, is making something as bad as you can to hang on to that IP until it's totally worthless and nobody wants anything to do with it. And that's why fourth on my list, The Crow, 2024. One cool scene where he uses a sword and cuts a guy's face in half. And then he gets stabbed with the sword and then falls backwards into a guy shooting him. Really, really cool scene. The rest of the movie, crazy. Crazy bad.
[0:38:16] Andrew: You know what's crazy about the Superman pick is that he wouldn't understand why he's on this board.
[0:38:21] Geoff: Yeah.
[0:38:21] Andrew: He'd be like, is it because I fly?
[0:38:23] Geoff: Like, what? Uh-huh. Well, he probably did hear that guy with his super hearing. Yeah.
[0:38:28] Unidentified: He can hear him.
[0:38:30] Eric: I'd be terrible. He can hear him. There you go. Those are my picks. We go to Nick with his final pick. You have a lot to live up to in the worst final round we've ever done. Yeah.
[0:38:40] Nick: It's all right, though. You know, here we go. So, I've been bouncing back and forth. Originally, I was going to go with a duck theme, but that died pretty quick. So, I've decided to do the same word.
[0:38:53] Eric: Your theme was a lame duck. Your duck pick.
[0:38:56] Nick: Your second duck pick was the same as your first duck pick. No, it was different. It would have been duck hunt. I don't know. It was the alternate. Anyway.
[0:39:04] Gavin: Duck. Abandoning that.
[0:39:06] Nick: Uh-huh. Yeah, that's also on there. It's too late. We've abandoned the clock. The thread's gone. So, I'm going with the bird, not bird, that you think of when it strikes midnight.
[0:39:17] Geoff: The cuckoo clock. Oh. Ducky from 16 Candles. The cuckoo clock. The cuckoo clock. Is that how you spell it? Yeah. I think so.
[0:39:27] Eric: Is that really how you spell cuckoo clock? Yeah, like cuck. You spell it. It's cuckoo clock. It's spelled cuckoo clock. Well, that's where the word comes from.
[0:39:36] Gavin: That's where cuck is from.
[0:39:37] Geoff: That's what time it is, Eric.
[0:39:40] Eric: That's what, wait. That's where the word comes from?
[0:39:42] Gavin: For real? Yeah, because cuckoos lay their eggs in other birds' nests and watch the, uh... Well, I don't think they watch necessarily, but the other birds will lay their eggs.
[0:39:50] Eric: They lay a bird in another nest, they pull up a big armchair in the dark, and they have a look.
[0:39:58] Geoff: They have to smoke a cigarette in the lot.
[0:40:02] Eric: Slower. Slower. Well, the cuckoo clock is on the board. Um... That is a bird, though. The clock isn't.
[0:40:12] Unidentified: Okay.
[0:40:16] Geoff: It's way... Gavin, way, way too late into the draft for you not to understand the data.
[0:40:25] Andrew: From the man that brought you Superman.
[0:40:27] Eric: There's only two picks left, and he's, like, rethinking what we're doing? From the man who brought you Superman.
[0:40:36] Andrew: What are you doing? I'm not sure if you know this, Gavin, but... A falcon is also a bird, a hawk is a bird, and Tony Hawk. Crow is a bird in crow's nest.
[0:40:50] Gavin: Yeah, but there's no crow in the crow's nest, is my point.
[0:40:52] Eric: There's no... But, like, it's not an actual... It's not an actual cuckoo. Cuckoo, it's the clock.
[0:40:57] Gavin: Hmm.
[0:40:58] Eric: All right. There's, like, no... It's so weird, because you're, like, pushing back, but I don't know that there's any, like, backbone to it, and it's really confusing.
[0:41:08] Andrew: No, no, no, I understand. On his second drive-through, I understood his point of that it is an actual bird in the clock.
[0:41:16] Geoff: Yeah, but you're not... But it's not a lie.
[0:41:17] Andrew: You're drafting the bird in the clock, you're drafting the clock. It's a similar argument he made about horse armor when I drafted the DLC.
[0:41:24] Gavin: Oh, we can't get to that again, can we? And to be honest, I was just so ready to argue with Nick that I had to...
[0:41:29] Eric: Well, I enjoyed it. Thank you, Gavin.
[0:41:36] Andrew: When the clock is locked in, I suppose we go to Andrew with his fourth and final pick. My fourth and final pick, I'm continuing a theme, sort of like Nick planned I'm doing. My pick is NBA superstar Chris Anderson, also known as the Birdman. Oh, yeah! Dude! Hell, yeah!
[0:41:57] Eric: Does he have a cameo or something? He has three Birdmen.
[0:42:00] Geoff: Go ahead, Jeff, sorry. One of the most famously catfished athletes of all time. Yeah. He's run up there with Mante Teo.
[0:42:07] Eric: It's like him and Mante Teo. That's it. That's awesome.
[0:42:10] Geoff: Hell, yeah.
[0:42:11] Andrew: Chris Anderson, the Birdman. Two-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat, I imagine. Two-time NBA champion. Yes, that's right. And Eric, you asked if he had a cameo. He does not have a cameo. Surprisingly, not a lot of NBA players do have a cameo. Chris Anderson, not available to accept this award, unfortunately, this great ruling. So I had to go in and get a replacement. I'm sure Chris Anderson actually would have picked this person themselves. None other than the very talented James Buckley accepting unbehaved. What?
[0:42:45] Unidentified: What?
[0:42:48] Geoff: I thought you were going to say TPG again.
[0:42:51] Eric: Gavin, are you aware of this?
[0:42:52] Geoff: Nope. Did anybody know that Andrew knew James?
[0:42:58] Eric: This was a cameo.
[0:43:00] Geoff: I mean.
[0:43:02] Eric: Gavin could have just called in the favor. This is so good. Gavin could have just shot like a text. Hey, can you record this real fast? This is awesome.
[0:43:10] Andrew: Here's the acceptance speech.
[0:43:11] Gavin: James Buckley, absolutely fascinated with Andrew.
[0:43:14] Andrew: Here we go.
[0:43:14] Gavin: In real life.
[0:43:15] Eric: Acceptance speech. Oh, really? Oh, I'm so excited. I'm so stoked. He did. This is the worst looking video.
[0:43:21] Andrew: Oh, God. He didn't even bother to get out of fucking bed. Okay. Take the stage, James.
[0:43:29] Unidentified: Hi, Andrew. How's it going, mate? I hope you're well. Thank you for your request here. I'm just going to have to read it. It says here, hey, my name is Andrew, and I'm part of a podcast called The Regulation Podcast. I'm pretty sure that you know, that I know who you are. I know we've never met, but I'm good pals with Gavin, and I can tolerate Jeff. We are doing a bird-not-bird draft, and I wanted you to make an acceptance-style speech on behalf of NBA-style Chris Harrison, the Birdman. I don't know what any phone's words mean. I don't know what any phone's words mean. I don't know what any phone's words mean. I don't know what any phone's words mean. Oh, it's so good.
[0:44:27] Andrew: So there you go, Chris Harrison.
[0:44:30] Unidentified: Oh, Christ. Oh, my God. Oh, it's so fucking funny. So I'm pretty sure I know who I am.
[0:44:43] Gavin: He was at my wedding.
[0:44:51] Eric: Me, my wife, and our friend Alyssa, like Americans who did not know who he was, were the ones that were sat next to him, so he was left alone. Everyone else was like, oh, my God, it's James Buckley. And Alyssa kept leaning over going, who is this guy?
[0:45:07] Gavin: Yeah, we put Alyssa next to James because I know that Alyssa wouldn't buck him.
[0:45:11] Unidentified: She had no idea. It was so awesome.
[0:45:14] Gavin: Every other person at my wedding was talking to me like, who knows James Buckley?
[0:45:19] Eric: Dude, all of the staff was like, oh, holy shit, James Buckley's here. That's fucking crazy. And Alyssa's like, who is this?
[0:45:27] Gavin: This is great. He worked hard that night, bless him.
[0:45:30] Eric: Oh, fuck, man. Oh, Andrew, what an incredible draft. I'm like, I'm losing my mind, dude. That's so crazy. Holy shit. Way to go. Thank you. Oh, man. Well, Jeff, here's your last pick. What you got? Hold on a second. Are you trying to get a cameo right now? I'm just counting.
[0:45:49] Geoff: I'm down to my final 22 picks. So I got to whittle it down to one. They call Gus like Big Hawk or anything like that.
[0:45:59] Eric: Get a phone call from him real fast.
[0:46:03] Geoff: So I just need to pick one from the last 22. I'm amazed. My heart tells me that I should maybe pick Larry Bird or maybe even four-time WNBA champion Sue Bird. But since Chris Anderson's already on the board, we've already dealt with the athletes. I think I'm going to finish it out in fourth round style. It feels like it'll be appropriate to everything else you guys have picked. I'm going to take it up. I'm amazed it's still on the board. So I'm going to pick it. Let's end the draft on Bird Flu.
[0:46:34] Andrew: You've been in one of these moves because you picked COVID-19 recently.
[0:46:43] Geoff: Name a more iconic bird, not bird than Bird Flu.
[0:46:46] Eric: Yeah, Jeff and diseases, man. Hand in hand. Way to go. Oh, God. Wow. Well, guys, that's the Bird Not Bird draft. Let's go through and you guys can let us know who won. Jeff has picked Millennium Falcon, who he did not want to talk about at all. Stu's Black Hawk, protected by Falcon's Tear on Patreon and Bird Flu. Andrew picked Tony Hawk, Sheen, Birdman, and Chris Anderson. The Birdman. Nick picked Duck, Crow's Nest, The Bird, and Cuckoo Clock. I picked Chicken, Robin Williams, The Crow, 1994, and The Crow, 2024. Gavin picked Woman, Birdo, Birdie, Superman. Uh-huh. And there you have it. The Bird Not Bird draft. The strongest draft we've ever done in the most insane looking if you just glance at the board. Wow.
[0:47:43] Geoff: What? And you never know how things are going to shake out in a draft. I didn't see it going this way. Nope. Wow.
[0:47:52] Gavin: Buckley's cameo just, most of it, in bewilderment that Andrew didn't just. I've had so many text conversations with Buckley, specifically about Andrew.
[0:48:11] Andrew: I guess I should say, I was on the fence about disclosing this. His cameo that he sent me was actually like three and a half minutes long. Oh, okay. I just thought that was the funniest place to end it. Yeah. No, no. That's great. You did the right thing. Maybe on the Patreon, throw up the entire video or something. I don't know.
[0:48:30] Gavin: Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. This might be the most expensive production we've had so far.
[0:48:35] Andrew: I want to be clear. No company money spent. Why? Why would you not spend company money on that? It was for the company. I didn't want to tip it off, and I wasn't sure about the approval of it. So, like, we'll reimburse you. Approval. Okay. So, yeah. No company money. You have approval power. Can you reimbursement?
[0:48:55] Eric: Yeah, can you reimburse yourself, please? Like, what the fuck? Yeah, come on, man. Goddamn. Andrew, those were incredible. Tony Hawk seemed to get it right away. Instantly. Buckley did not. James Buckley did not. James Buckley did not. While going through the same exercise.
[0:49:09] Unidentified: Wow.
[0:49:09] Andrew: They did the same thing, and Tony Hawk got it. Tony Hawk was outside.
[0:49:19] Eric: He was showing you beautiful Carlsbad, California. James Buckley was in his bed.
[0:49:26] Geoff: Hey, guys. I have a goal for regulation to achieve. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. That I've just landed on. Imagine a future where we're able to finagle four people to do a draft that we give them, and those four people are Tony Hawk, Shaheen, TPG, and James Buckley. We give them a draft, celebrity draft, and we have them draft. And we just filmed it. Incredible.
[0:49:54] Eric: We just edited it. It's like Tony Hawk saying, my first draft pick is this. And then we can discuss it. And then Shaheen going, my first draft pick is this. And we go through a whole draft.
[0:50:09] Gavin: I just love the idea of looking down Andrew's list and replacing those names at the top, and then a draft goes. It's incredible. Oh, my God.
[0:50:17] Eric: Well, guys, that's the bird, not bird draft. Incredible stuff. Go to patreon.com slash the regulation pod. You go to regulationstore.store to grab some stuff. Check us out on YouTube, the podcast, our gameplay videos, and so much more. Oh, boy. Let us know who won this one. I am just, I'm like, beside myself. This one was crazy. Guys, any parting thoughts for the folks at home listening to this and what birds we maybe missed? No. Come on. There you have it. All right. We'll see you guys next time. Bye. Bye. Duck.
